Q. What sort of clothes should we bring and how many?
A. Most residents will use nightclothes and underwear frequently, so a minimum of 10 pairs of pants and socks, 3 or 4 sets of night attire, several sets of under clothes and whatever personal clothes the resident may require. A couple of pairs of shoes and slippers is also advisable and additional undergarments and slippers are required if the resident has any incontinence issues.

Q. What sort of catering facilities do you provide?
A. We provide a full pattern of meals for our residents with a variety of choices from each menu and hot drinks and snacks are available throughout the day. We are also pleased to discuss any special needs for meals, reflecting dietary, medical or religious requirements.

Q. What are the visiting times?
A. There are no set times, visitors are welcome at any time. Please just sign our visitors book which is located in the main entrance lobby.

Q. What sorts of arrangements are there for Medical Care?
A. All residents are registered with the local Doctor and visits are made as required. However or a resident may choose to remain with their own GP if the practice is within the geographical location of the home. Any hospital appointments will be dealt with responsibly, in the event of any accidents or emergencies relatives will be contacted immediately.

Q. Do we need to escort our relatives on hospital visits?
A. Yes, whenever possible as the relative would probably appreciate your company and sometimes it is difficult to provide an escort. But we are able to assist if it is not possible for you to attend. If we have had to ask an extra member of staff to be on duty to provide the escort then we will unfortunately need to pass this cost onto the resident. If however we do have staff available then they will be able to escort, at no additional charge.

Q. Would you make the transport arrangements?
A. Yes, we will make arrangements for hospital visits. If the resident requires any other transport for private arrangements the cost would need to be met by the resident.

A. Yes, as well as smoke detectors and fire alarms, they are also situated in the lounge, bathrooms and all exit doors.

Q. Can the residents bring personal belongings into the home?
A. Yes, we feel that by residents bringing personal belongings with them it helps to make them feel more at ease and their rooms more homely. Items such as photos, pictures, ornaments and small items of furniture are ideal. TV’s and radios are also welcome but we would require them to be tested prior to use.

Q. What about religious/spiritual needs?
A. We have regular visits from the local clergy but we also respect the personal religious/spiritual views of all residents and will endeavour to assist them in their continuing observance and involvement in accordance with the resident’s wishes.

A. There are facilities in each room for a telephone to be installed. We can give advice on how to obtain details for installation. In emergencies only, we can pass messages to and from Residents via our main office phone line.
